What if our world did not fit the greater world? Using ArcGIS as a material to spatially explore conceptual questions of home, place, and belonging, Marian April Glebes posits that cartography is portraiture and data visualization is a radical act of processing place-based and multicentered identity. How might a map illustrate homesickness? What is scale when measuring not only the built environment but also psychological and emotional distances and intersections? By asking a series of questions utilizing ArcGIS to perform a series of material studies, Glebes investigates how we make a place, and how a place makes us.
